Parliament speaker holds government accountable for bad weather fatalities

Speaker of the parliament Ali Abdel Aal said that the government is responsible for the deaths resulted from the recent bad weather wave that hit several parts of Egypt, Youm7 reported Sunday.

“Despite prior precautions by meteorological authority, the government has not informed the citizens not to travel through the ill-fated highways where dozens of people were killed in car accidents,” said Abdel Aal during a parliament session on Sunday.

On Saturday, President Abdel Fatah el Sisi directed the government to allocate 50 million EGP (about $5.5m) for compensating families of those killed and injured in the heavy rains hit Egypt during the past two days, Youm7 reported.
